Day 9

Gone Fishing

sunny 29 °C

Despite an unfavourable weather forecast, the sun was out and the day couldn't have started more differently to the previous one. I contacted the apartment owner, Chris and he thought it would be a good day to take us all out on his boat lobster fishing.

Sharon and Neil went out for a walk along the old railway path while Grant and I stocked up on a few groceries at one of the local stores in Somerset.

At midday we made our way to the ferry dock where we were picked up by Chris, captain Brent, CJ and Chris' Dad. We had the most amazing time snorkelling, paddle boarding and soaking up the sun on deck. Chris managed to dive down and impressively catch a couple of lobsters which would be our dinner that evening.

We got back to the dock mid afternoon and we decided to get our lunch at the Somerset Country Squire pub. We all had fish dishes and once again, the food was tasty and in particular, the calamari which had a delicious coating.

Later that evening, Chris came along to our apartment and prepared and cooked the lobster to an avid audience. Chris joined us all for dinner as we tucked into one of the most amazing lobster dishes I have ever had. Chris had cut the lobster into chunks and cooked it simply in garlic butter. We just served it with a choice of salads and coleslaw. After dinner Chris said goodbye and we sat outside on the terrace drinking and chatting.....a great fun day with our lovely friends.
